Staff laptop loans and repairs

ISD has a laptop loan service to support ÂÒÂ×Ðã staff during periods of remote working. Repair of ÂÒÂ×Ðã devices can also be requested for pick up and delivery back to the user.


Provision of laptops and laptop loans

ISD only has a limited supply of laptops available for loan. All staff need to consider whether their need to borrow a laptop is valid. Our loan laptops are exclusively for individuals who are working remotely and do not have access to any IT equipment at home.Ìý

  1. Where possible, if ÂÒÂ×Ðã staff do not have a ÂÒÂ×Ðã supplied laptop they should useÌýtheir personal device if they have one available.
  2. If a member of staffÌýdoes not have access to personal device or if the personal device they were using is no longer working, they should find out if theirÌýdepartment is willing to procure a ÂÒÂ×Ðã laptop for them.
  3. If the department agrees to fund a ÂÒÂ×Ðã laptop, staff should follow the standard process for buying hardware.Ìý
  4. In instances where the department is unable to fund a ÂÒÂ×Ðã laptop, then ISD can supply a laptop on a short-term loan.

Note:Ìý Maximum loan period is 4 weeks and the laptop can be collected from ISD. (Please note that the department will need to arrange and issue their staff with a permanent / temporary laptop thereafter).

To enable prioritisation of a limited supply of equipment please provide approval from your departmental Computer Rep, with a statement of the impact of not having a laptop available.

Important: Once your loan laptop has been approved by ISD you will need to be registered on our loan booking system before you can collect your allocated laptop.Ìý We are unable to release your loan device to any other persons, so please ensure you are able to arrange collection yourself.Ìý You may be asked to provide your photo ID to confirm your identity.

Laptop repairs

A departmental device, or anÌýISD supplied loan device, could develop a hardware or software fault that cannot be resolved remotely. If you need to get a laptop repaired please contact the IT Services desk. The support team will then contact you directly to arrange the repair.
