Learn about Google Analytics 4 for Drupal.

Information about Google Analytics 4 (GA4) for Drupal

GA4 is a completely newÌýinterface with a new data model and lots of newÌýfeatures including app analytics and can provide youÌýwith lots of information on usage of your website (visits, devices used, countries where users come from). We strongly advise you keep track of analytics to see how you can improve certain pages, which pages are most popular, which are not performing as expected,Ìýetc.

How Digital Experience supports GA4

All sites are linked to the main ÂÒÂ×Ðã-wide property to which all editors can request access.Ìý

All new Drupal sites contain the tracking code for the main ÂÒÂ×Ðã-wide GA4Ìýproperty. All editors can request 'read and analyse' access to the main property.

How to access the central GA4 property

    Please follow the steps below:

    1. Go to and create a Google account for yourself using your ÂÒÂ×Ðã email address.
    2. Once you have done that please ÌýtoÌýlet us know that you would like access to GA4 to view your website analytics and have created an account.

Adding a secondary local property to GA4

Additionally, you can add a second local property to your Drupal sites to have your own self-contained property.Ìý

Please assess the new interface and evaluate whether you wish to continue with aÌýsecondary local GA4Ìýaccount for your content (which will beÌýunsupported by Digital Experience).

If youÌýwould like to access Google Analytics 4 for your own site please follow the steps below:

    1. Create a new property for Google Analytics 4 using your existing account or set up a new account with your ÂÒÂ×Ðã email address.ÌýPlease noteÌýit is best NOT to migrate your UA property to GA4 using the set-upÌýwizard if you have lots of custom reports and events but create a new one. If you don't have custom events, then do just follow the set-up assistant steps.
    2. Please see theÌý- note you don't need to add the code to your website. Digital Experience will make the configuration changes in Google Tag Manager.
    3. Once you have done that please and let the team know you would like access to GA4 and have created a property. Send the Google Tag ID. The support team will make the necessary changes to send data to your new property.
    4. Once done you will have access to GA4 for your website
