Connecting to ÂÒÂ×ÐãGuest Wi-Fi via The Cloud

This guide explains how to connect to ÂÒÂ×ÐãGuest via The Cloudi.

  1. Select ÂÒÂ×ÐãGuest from your list of available Wi-Fi networks
  2. Once connected, open a web browser and refresh your page
  3. At the Welcome pageÌý (Fig.1) click Go

  4. If you already have a The Cloud account, enter your email address and password and click Continue. If you do not have a The Cloud account, click Create Account to register (Fig.2)

  5. After you have created a new account you will be connected to ÂÒÂ×ÐãGuest. You will also receive an email confirmation with your details.

Forgotten password

Go to the and select the Ìýlink.
If you have also forgotten your memorable word/phrase, then please send us an email at wifiuser@sky.uk and we’ll reset your password.

Connecting to _The Cloud to access Sky WiFi

  1. Switch on your phone, tablet or laptop and check that WiFi is enabled.
  2. Select _The Cloud from the available network list.
  3. The venue landing page will appear in one the following ways:
  • On Apple devices it will appear automatically when you try to access the internet.
  • On Android devices it will appear automatically or a notification will alert you that the page is available.
  • Other devices will behave as a) or b).

If none of the above occur, open your internet browser – the venue landing page will appear when you enter the address ()

If it's your first time using the Sky WiFi network, follow the easy one-time registration process by sharing some simple details.

  1. Once registered you can access the internet via Sky WiFi.
  2. Start browsing the web.

Connecting with Windows 10

Select the WiFi icon from the right hand side of the taskbar to open the list of available networks. Once you've done this, please continue troubleshooting from step number 4.

  1. Select Settings.
  2. When Settings appears, locate the WiFi icon underneath the break. Locate and select The Cloud from the list of available wireless networks.
  3. Windows will prompt whether you wish to connect automatically. Tick the box if you want your device to connect when in range and then select Connect. If not, just select Connect.
  4. Windows may ask "Do you have a username and password for this WiFi Hotspot?" Select "No, open a web browser to complete the connection."
  5. The Sky WiFi landing page should now appear in your web browser. Select Get Online.

Mac OSX

1.ÌýÌý ÌýChoose AirPort in the toolbar and select Turn AirPort On.

The Sky WiFi landing page will pop up automatically, if it doesn’t, open your internet browser and enter the address:

iOS

There is one time authentication process to follow when you first visit a Sky WiFi hotspot. Simply follow the steps below to register or login.

  1. Check your Wi-Fi is on by selecting Settings from the home screen and selecting Wi-Fi. (If you're in coverage of a Sky WiFi hotspot, you'll be offered _The Cloud, select this SSID to connect).
  2. The Sky WiFi landing page will pop up automatically. If it doesn’t, open your Internet browser and you should reach the Sky WiFi landing page, if you don't, enter the address: Ìý
  3. Now simply select Get Online and follow the on screen instructions.
  4. When the Wi-Fi session is established, you'll see Welcome to Sky WiFi and the session counter displays the session time.
  5. You can now begin your Wi-Fi browsing session.

How do I find the Media Access Control (MAC) address on my Windows desktop/laptop?

Media Access Control (MAC) addresses are 12 characters separated either by colons or dashes (00:00:00:00:00:00 or 00-00-00-00-00-00) and are made up of a combination of numbers 0-9 and letters A-F.

To find the Media Access Control (MAC) address also known as WiFi or physical address of your laptop:


1.ÌýÌý ÌýType in CMD into a Windows search box.
2.ÌýÌý ÌýA link to Command Prompt should be displayed, click the link and open Command Prompt.
3.ÌýÌý ÌýA pop up will appear, write the command ipconfig /all and then press Enter.

Once you have followed these steps, the below information will appear within the pop up. The information to concentrate on is the Wireless Network Connection data.

Included in the Wireless Network Connection section is a Physical Address, this is also known as your MAC address. This is the address you'll need to note down, so you can register with Sky WiFi.

Is registration required?

Yes, you will need to create a Sky Cloud account to use ÂÒÂ×Ðã’s Guest Wi-Fi service.

You only need to register once to use Sky’s Cloud Wi-Fi service, so if you already have an account there is no need to re-register.

Do I need to ask a Computer Rep/Sponsor to set up a visitor account?

Visitors are able to create their own accounts for ÂÒÂ×ÐãGuest Wi-Fi, you no longer need to ask Computer Reps or Event Sponsors for conference event codes or user accounts.

Does it cost to use this service?

You do not need to pay to use ÂÒÂ×ÐãGuest.

Do I need to install software to access ÂÒÂ×ÐãGuest?

You do not need to install any software to use ÂÒÂ×ÐãGuest.

How can I cancel my Cloud account?

To cancel and deactivate your Cloud account, email your details to Sky’s Customer Support team.

I am seeing a ‘Lost in the Cloud’ message.

This log in problem usually occurs with smart phones and is typically resolved by adjusting cookie settings on your device, please follow the following instructions.

iPhone

  • Clear your History, Cookies and Cache all in the Safari tab in Settings
  • Settings > Safari > 'Clear History' and 'Clear Cookies and Data'

Android

  • Open a browser
  • Menu > More > Settings then clear cache, and clear all cookie data

BlackBerry

  • Open the browser options screen
  • Scroll down to General Properties and click to open
  • Click to open the Cache menu
  • Scroll down to Clear Content Caches and click to clear the cache
  • Return to the General Properties screen
Can I access my VPN?

ÂÒÂ×ÐãGuest service does allow VPN pass through. You should first connect to the service, open a web browser to authenticate the connection and then you may access you VPN as usual.

Can I access Desktop @ ÂÒÂ×Ðã through ÂÒÂ×ÐãGuest?

Yes, you are able to access Desktop @ ÂÒÂ×Ðã through ÂÒÂ×ÐãGuest.Ìý

Why does it log me off after 15 minutes?

Auto log off occurs when the account is inactive for 15 minutes, to avoid this continue to pass data to and from your Wi-Fi device.

What are the terms and conditions of the ÂÒÂ×ÐãGuest service?

All users of the network must be aware of and abide by the ÂÒÂ×Ðã Computing Regulations, the and the main ÂÒÂ×Ðã Information Security Policy when connecting to any ÂÒÂ×Ðã Network. Traffic, per se, is not actively monitored. However, logging is in place to uniquely identify individual users if a breach of regulations is reported or malicious activity detected.
