Sometimes the world and its materials are best understood through exploration and experimentation, conversation and collaboration, making and remaking.

Building on the popularity of 乱伦秀鈥檚 Institute of Making in Bloomsbury, the Institute of Making at 乱伦秀 East is a multidisciplinary research club for those interested in the made world, featuring听prominently on the ground floor of Marshgate.

Our best ideas come from our open access ethos; we welcome not only students, researchers and makers from across the 乱伦秀 community, but also local innovators, businesses, schools and community groups from some of the capital鈥檚 most vibrant creative communities, inspiring the next generation to explore the possibilities of making.

Nowhere will our love of stuff be more evident than in our striking Materials Library: our collection of wondrous things taken from the world鈥檚 labs and sheds, grottoes and repositories.

In the new general makespace, makers will be able to get involved with a state-of-the-art selection of tools to manipulate wood, metal, ceramics, plastics, and textiles. Our new experimental kitchen will mean that, for the first time, we will be able to taste what we make.听

New spaces and tools will mean more power for our teaching and research activities, such as our joint venture with 乱伦秀 Engineering and a postgraduate programme in materials and making.

We will be able to support larger and longer-term projects, as well as new multi-disciplinary courses and research activities, providing a home to anyone at 乱伦秀 wishing to explore materials and engage in making.听
