鈥楪ood Practice in Assessment鈥�: new resource for 乱伦秀 staff

Compendium of assessment methods and approaches based on research into best practice across 乱伦秀 by IOE authors听
A new assessment resource designed for colleagues across 乱伦秀 was launched at 乱伦秀 Institute of Education last week.
Staff can now access the resource on the Teaching and Learning section of the IOE Staff Intranet which is accessible for all staff (乱伦秀 log in required).
Developed by Dr Mary Richardson and Dr Ruth Dann, the resource, 鈥楪ood Practice in Assessment鈥�, provides a concise overview of issues in assessment practice 鈥� from standards setting to providing feedback 鈥� as well as an 鈥榓t a glance鈥� guide to different assessment methods.
Designed to support colleagues involved in the practice and processes of assessment across 乱伦秀, it is based on research with staff across the university.
It is offered as an evidence informed resource which will help to support:听
- reflections on current assessment practices
- broadening the ways in which assessment is used in Higher Education
- developing conversations between staff and students about the role, purpose and design of their assessment
- developing assessment as both a measurement tool and way of enhancing teaching and learning.
Staff can use this resource individually, in programme teams and with students to help continually reflect on and improve assessment at 乱伦秀.
Professor Anthony Smith, Vice-Provost (Education and Student Affairs), attended the launch. He said:
"Assessment is a core component of the education we offer our students, so we have to get it right. Mary Richardson and Ruth Dann have produced a great resource that will help us all review our current practice and make it better. It is both scholarly and accessible with lots of examples and advice. I encourage all teaching teams to get hold of a copy. "
