International volunteering partnerships

Below is a summary of our international volunteering partners and the opportunities they offer.

Students can apply for aÌýGlobal Experience BursaryÌýto help with the associated volunteering costs and if eligble,Ìýafter applying for the Global Experience Bursary, can apply for additional Turing funding. For final year students that may not be eligible for the Global Experience Bursary, please look at Study Abroad's Funding page for ideas on other sources of support..

Think Pacific - Volunteering and Internships in Fiji and Indonesia

is a UK social enterprise, which works with local government partners in Fiji and IndonesiaÌýto achieve ethical, responsible and sustainable development in remote communities, whilst allowing university students to have a safe, structured and rewarding learning and volunteering experience. International volunteers live in a villageÌýand work with localsÌýto discuss, explore and implement sustainable projects to tackle a range of social issues. Topics include public health, mental health, sports development, enterprise start up, employability and life skills.

Costs

Registration and programme fees are published on . Students are encouraged to fundraise over the course of the year to reach their targets, whichÌýThink Pacific will provide resources and guidance to assist participants with. Please note the programme fee does not cover flights. Further details can be found on Think Pacific'sÌýpage.

Fully funded remote interships -ÌýThink Pacific also offer Remote Internships (fully online, but working on live projects with Fijian Ministries, NGO’s, social enterprises or local charities). Gotoco - TEFL Volunteering

is a social enterprise devoted to providing students with impactful and affordable global work experience and adventure travel opportunities. Gotoco is committed to promoting cultural awareness and quality English education through a variety of projects across Europe and Asia, with the aim toÌýmake international cultural exchange, travel and TEFL certification more accessible and affordable.

Costs
There is a £480 fee that goes towards:
•ÌýÌý ÌýTEFL training and certification
•ÌýÌý Ìýaccommodation and meals during the summer camp
•ÌýÌý Ìýin-country support and post-programme references
•ÌýÌý Ìýcultural activities.

StudentsÌýcomplete an online form via the Gotoco websiteÌýand may involve an interview.ÌýFinal location details are usually confirmed from March-June, as this is when the summer camps confirm their teams.

Raleigh International

Ìýempowers young people from across the world to develop their skills and take action on the issues they care about. They do this through challenging and fun international volunteering experiences for 6-10Ìýweeks across Costa Rica and South Africa.ÌýRaleigh has over 36 years’ experience of delivering responsible, international volunteering programmes. More than 50,000 people from over 100 countries have taken part in their programmes and initiatives.

Volunteers are supported in creating long-lasting change through hands-on projects thatÌýtackle environmental issues, improve access to water and sanitation facilities and increase access to educational facilities. Expedition teams work in remote, rural locations alongside local communities.ÌýVolunteers take part in projects focussed on finding sustainable solutions to issues such as poverty, low levels of education, food insecurity and unemployment.Ìý

Costs
Raleigh International have fundraising targets that each volunteer is expected to meet. The fundraising targetsÌýinclude in-country training, airport transfers, project equipment, health insurance, food, and accommodation. Students arrange their own flights, visas, and vaccinations. As a charity, they encourage volunteersÌýto fundraise for their Expedition, which can include reaching out toÌýTrusts and Foundations that offer funding for young people to engage in international volunteering.
