ÂÒÂ×Ðã is marking UK Disability History Month 2021 with a variety of free events and activities.

ÂÒÂ×Ðã is presenting a range of events as part of UK Disability History Month 2021. Find out more below.

November:

  • 30 November – [VIRTUAL/FOR ALL]: with legendary disability rights activist Judy Heumann, who will be speaking about her recent book, Being Heumann: An Unrepentant Memoir of a Disability Rights Activist.
  • 25 NovemberÌý– [VIRTUAL/FOR STAFF]:ÌýFind out more about disability equality in the UK at .
  • 29 November – [VIRTUAL/FOR ALL]: Louise Grimmett from ÂÒÂ×Ðã's Student Support and Wellbeing will be leading on neurodiversity and the resources that ÂÒÂ×Ðã can offer.
  • 29 November – [VIRTUAL/FOR STUDENTS]: Join a on discussing disabilities and health conditions with employers. The event will offerÌýadvice on recognising when an employer has an inclusive culture andÌýguidance on further resources and support.

December:

  • 2 December – [VIRTUAL/FOR ALL]: ÂÒÂ×Ðã's Centre for Artificial Intelligence and the Global Disability Innovation Hub will be hostingÌý, an online event to discuss the power of AI in transforming the lives of people with disabilities.
  • 2 December – [VIRTUAL/FOR ALL]: In this Lunch Hour Lecture, Professor Katrina Scior and Lisa Richardson will present research on a range of interventions to combat the stigma of intellectual disability.
  • 3 DecemberÌý– [VIRTUAL AND IN PERSON/FOR ALL]:ÌýThe Portico will be lighting up purple for International Day of Persons with Disabilities at ÂÒÂ×Ðã. Join in by following the hashtag on the day and sharing what you are doing in your area to support disability inclusion.
  • 3 December – [VIRTUAL/FOR ALL]: In celebration of International Day of Persons with Disabilities, ÂÒÂ×Ðã Student Support and Wellbeing will beÌýhosting academics and an expert student panel.Ìý
  • 8 DecemberÌý– [VIRTUAL/FOR ALL]: Join on rethinking inclusive spaces in Higher EducationÌýbased on learnings from disabled students and staff.
  • 9 and 14 DecemberÌý– [VIRTUAL/FOR STAFF]: Digital Skills Development areÌýrunning aÌýsession on Word and a session on PowerPointÌýto help you create more accessible content.
