ÂÒÂ×Ðã Medsin: Climate & Global Health Student Conference

  • Did you know that climate change will cause a global health catastrophe?

    On Saturday 7 March, Medsin ÂÒÂ×Ðã will host the South-East Regional Conference on the theme of 'Healthy People, Healthy Planet' with the support of the ÂÒÂ×Ðã Centre for International Health and Development (CIHD). Medsin ÂÒÂ×Ðã is a student society dedicated to global health education and advocacy.

    The conference will run 10am-5pm at the ÂÒÂ×Ðã Institute of Child Health (30 Guilford Street, London WC1N 1EH) and will feature plenary sessions, workshops and high-profile speakers.Ìý

    Confirmed speakers include:

    • Prof Anthony Costello, Director of the ÂÒÂ×Ðã Institute for Global Health
    • Prof Ian Roberts, Professor of Public Health, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, University of London
    • Dr David Pencheon, Director of the NHS Sustainability Development
    • Mayer Hillman, Senior Fellow Emeritus at the Policy Studies Institute, University of Westminster

    The second part of the programme is dedicated to advocacy. Delegates will learn what roleÌý the health profession, doctors and medical students can play in tackling climate change, and the knowledge and skills required be an active and engaging climate change advocate.

    The day will be focused on the attending delegates. The members of Medsin ÂÒÂ×Ðã will meet each delegate individually to give advice on the opportunities for advocacy work.
