The ÂÒÂ×Ðã International Institute for Society and Health is hosting a seminar on Tuesday 14 July entitled 'Financial Crisis and Health'.

There are now more benefit claimants than at any time since August 1997 (1.51 million). For those people, and their families, made redundant and unable to find new work, or unable to enter the labour market, physical and mental health may be compromised. For those who remain in work, lower price inflation and in some sectors, price deflation, may improve wellbeing.

Chaired by Professor Michael Marmot, Director of the ÂÒÂ×Ðã International Institute for Society and Health, the panel will discuss the public health dimensions of the financial crisis. Guest speakers will include:

• Mel Bartley, Director of the Economic and Social Research Council International Centre for Life Course Studies in Society and Health
• David Blane, Professor of Medical Sociology, Imperial College London
• Eric Brunner, Reader in Epidemiology, ÂÒÂ×Ðã

The seminar will take place from 5:00-6:30pm in Room G06, ÂÒÂ×Ðã Roberts Building, Torrington Place (opposite Waterstones), London WC1E 7JE. All are welcome.Ìý
