About our research

Cell and tissue biology isÌýone of the most exciting and important areas of biomedical research.ÌýMost cells function within tissues,Ìýwith the breakdown of tissue function the basis of ageing and diseasesÌýsuch as cancer, inflammation, neuro-degeneration and pathogen infection. WeÌýfoster collaborative multidisciplinary researchÌýand cutting-edge technology to promoteÌýimaginative and innovative discoveries inÌýtissue biology.

Our research themes include:

  • Tissue biology
  • Cell organisation and dynamics
  • Physical biology of the cell
  • Cell growth and division
  • Cell decision making

Our state-of-the-art in-house technology development platforms include:

    Collaborations

The LMCB promotes aÌýculture of local and global collaboration.ÌýIts location within ÂÒÂ×Ðã’s Faculty of Life SciencesÌýfacilitates interdisciplinary exchangeÌýacross ÂÒÂ×Ðã faculties, including the Institute for the Physics of Living Systems,Ìý³Ù³ó±ð and many more. The close proximity of many research centres, including the Francis Crick Institute, Kings College London, Imperial College London and the UniversitiesÌýof Oxford and Cambridge, encourages a vibrant atmosphere of interactive, ambitious research.Ìý
