Human Evolution Interest

My research examines how evolutionary processes produce past and present global biodiversity patterns and predicting how future global change will impact on wild nature. Most of my work focuses on mammals, producing the first complete phylogenetic tree of extant mammals and a predictive model of mammalian extinction risk.Ìý More recently my research has been examining the linkages between biodiversity and ecosystem services - in particular investigating how the loss of biodiversity impacts the emergence and transmission of diseases and I am interested in understanding the macroecology of human emerging infectious diseases.
