Transcribe Bentham

is an participatory initiative which launched in 2010.ÌýIts aim is to engage the public in the online transcription of original and unstudied manuscripts written by Jeremy Bentham, his correspondents, and his amenuenses.Ìý

At the latest count, volunteers have transcribed almost 25,000 pages of Bentham's writings. These transcripts are made available in the , making it easier for anyone around the globe to access and read Bentham's papers.ÌýThey are also used by scholars at the Bentham Project in the production of the edition of The Collected Works of Jeremy Bentham.

Transcribe Bentham is hosted by the Bentham Project atÌýthe Faculty of Laws, University College London, in collaboration with ÂÒÂ×Ðã Research IT Services,Ìý, ,ÌýandÌý.

Transcribe Bentham was established with funding from the and subsequently received funding from the Ìýand the project.ÌýREAD was funded by the Ìý(grant agreement no. 674943).

Thanks to a collaboration with the at the Universitat Politècnica deÌýValència as part of the project, it is now possible to search Bentham's manuscripts for key words and phrases—even pages not yet transcribed.Ìý.
